Re: Limma fraction and apotome fraction accidentals
[This was originally posted in the Microtonal Music and Theory facebook group in response to Cryptic Ruse's post (I can't type or pronounce the name he goes by now). It is preserved here at the request of Joe Monzo. Thanks Joe.] Congratulations on finishing the draft. It may well lead to improvement...

Re: 13-limit JI
But you are now talking about a notation system for 224edo aren't you? Of course such a system, and indeed a much smaller one, is fine for playback. Some EDO will be used in a playback engine, anyway - 1200EDO is common in hardware synths. But by JI notations I always refer to a one-symbol-per-prim...

Re: 13-limit JI
While it's true that we won't need a separate symbol for each combination in the font itself, ... This is the most important difference, as it is the difference between JI notations being possible rather than impossible (with SMuFL compliant fonts). ... we'll still need to build a potentially ever-...

Re: How should naturals be used with Sagittal?
It seems that existing practice when changing between single and double flats would be more relevant than single and double sharps as a double sharp is still a single symbol while a double-flat can be seen as composed of two symbols which might be independently cancelled or added. George, does Profe...

How should naturals be used with Sagittal?
Hi George, Do we have a policy on the use of naturals with Sagittals, and if so, what is it and why? Is it different for pure vs mixed? Is it affected by whether there are Sagittals in the key signature? Are Sagittals treated differently from conventional sharps and flats? What about pure Sagittal s...

Re: [WIP] My Sagittal Font
Have you seen Thomas Richter's Sagittals in http://www.ekmelic-music.org/en/extra/ekmelily.htm ? He only has a small subset and so does not include any concave or wavy flags, but I note that his "straight" flags :/|: are actually slightly concave. This makes them more distinct from the con...

Re: [WIP] My Sagittal Font
Thanks Fluffeh. I agree with most of what you say. To answer your questions: While it's true that those parts of quavers are called flags (I'd call those wavy and straight from left to right), I was using the term to refer to the half-arrowheads on the Sagittal symbols. George and I adopted the term...

Re: [WIP] My Sagittal Font
Another possible source of inspiration for distinction between sagittal glyphs is the heraldic description of the symbols based on the Sagittal mythology (much of which has not yet been written). You can see these descriptions in the rightmost column of this document. http://sagittal.org/Sagittal2_c...

Re: [WIP] My Sagittal Font
Hi Fluffeh. Welcome. One problem with Sagittal glyphs is the need to make four shapes which all have to be some kind of arrow-head or directional "flag" and yet have to be very distinct from each other. Another problem is the propensity of many humans to confuse left-right reversals of the...

Re: George's "Coming on Clouds" piece
I suspect you just need to force your browser to reload the Sagittal home page.
But just in case, here's a direct link to the mp3 file: http://sagittal.org/Clouds-29HTT4.mp3
