Re: Extending Trojan notation to finer resolution
I spent the weekend diving deep into Trojan notation and EDOs. Just 12 days ago I still believed they were the same thing . Now I look upon the periodic table and it actually maybe makes at least a little bit of sense! As I was studying, it occurred to me -- wait a second, that one piece of mine I p...

Re: Prime-factor Sagittal JI notation (one symbol per prime)
I have a Sagittal songbook. But I was thinking we needed to show symbols on staves more often in introductory and other explanatory material. Will do. Thanks. I'll look into the CSS webfont thing when I've finished renewing my teaching quals. Good luck! I agree that sharps and flats should not be s...

Re: JI Notation Spreadsheet
Dave Keenan I think something on this thread must have gotten messed up. Is this one of those dreaded instances of accidentally clicking the Edit button for a post instead of the Reply button? I recall posting here listing a few things I planned to change on the JI Notation Spreadsheet. Another thi...

Re: Prime-factor Sagittal JI notation (one symbol per prime)
In case this is handy, here are the primes thus far addressed, with their size in cents, and then the order they should appear in if based on this size. 5 -21.506 10 7 -27.264 9 11 53.273 4 13 -64.915 1 17 14.730 13 19 3.378 16 23 16.544 12 29 33.148 7 31 -54.528 3 37 46.394 5 41 21.084 11 43 13.795...

Re: Prime-factor Sagittal JI notation (one symbol per prime)
In the few examples I give above, I seem to be assuming greater-alteration-closer-to-the-notehead, the same as for the mono-sagittal JI notations. Ah, so you are! I should have noticed that. Is this another user-settable parameter for the calculator, like the choice of 17-comma versus 17-kleisma? G...

Re: "Sagispeak"
“Mimi” works for me. Let’s go with that. Really I only proposed the versions with “a” and “h” because I thought they’d be more likely to be what y’all wanted, not because I preferred them.

Re: Prime-factor Sagittal JI notation (one symbol per prime)
Ooh, here's another fun question that has arisen in the course of putting what I've learned on this thread into practice: What should we do for Plain Text Longform when using Prime Factor Sagittal? I don't think it's a good idea to simply concatenate the symbols, even though ambiguity doesn't look l...

Re: Prime-factor Sagittal JI notation (one symbol per prime)
Quick question re: style: JI Notation prescribes that the visual elements representing alterations should be sorted from right to left, largest to smallest. However, the same principle would not be as effective for Prime Factor Notation. The natural thing to do seems rather to be to sort by the size...

Re: JI Notation Spreadsheet
Please let me know if anyone thinks it would be valuable for me — in addition to building an online web calculator for Sagittal — to update the existing spreadsheet with the following: update the Plain Text Longform it generates per recent developments re: the new Olympian diacritics removing George...
