Re: Extending Trojan notation to finer resolution

Right. In this case we aren't dealing with any particular EDO, we just know we have 700c fifths, so 3's are all we can temper. Ah, okay. So when I calculated the notation for 137 , I was correct to temper all the commas by its patent val. Got it. I note that if we were coming up with a notation for...

Notification Sender Name

Whenever I get an email notification from this forum, the sender name is "d.keenan". The body of the email differentiates who triggered the notification via the text "This topic has received a reply by {username}", so it's no big deal. I don't need to visit the forum to find this...

I did notice that 2002 on there and figured it might have a been a minute since you last worked with it! : D

Re: 137EDO

But you may want subset limits, e.g. 19-odd-limit with no 3 or 5. The following spreadsheet looks at all odd subsets up to the 19-odd-limit. There's a column for each EDO, and a row for each subset. Where they intersect, if the EDO is consistent over the diamond of that subset, the cell contains th...

Re: 137EDO

I'll respond in detail later (gotta get back to my day job) but I'll just quickly say that in my work last night I got the same thing as Ash9903b4 . Well, I only had the :/ /|: (25S) for the 4th step, but then I corrected it to :|\: (55S) after reading Dave Keenan 's suggestion to compare with 130edo.

Re: Extending Trojan notation to finer resolution

When the fifths are not pure (Pythagorean), the untempered size of the default comma should be irrelevant. It's the tempered size that matters. This was all I needed to read and I immediately knew what I had done wrong. Of course, in working on notating 137edo, I did just this sort of thing — consi...

Re: Prime-factor Sagittal JI notation (one symbol per prime)

Ha, I wasn't thinking about that, but yes, whatever the calculator spits out will certainly influence the community :) You've got another good point: while I'd only been considering consistency within prime factor notation thus far, it's important to consider consistency across all Sagittal notation...

Emoji-ttal

This one's just for fun. I couldn't find a better subforum to categorize it under. I noticed when opening one of my Sagittal spreadsheets on my mobile device that the Unicode characters for Sagittal symbols rendered as emojis. Like this: 2020-03-14 07.36.50.png Not all of them were defined, but in c...

137EDO

I have been delving into Sagittal EDO notations lately. Very interesting stuff. I don't see that 137 has been notated yet; prime EDOs have (with the exception of 73) been notated only up to 89. Dave Keenan do you have any record of taking a shot at 137, and if so, do you have any notes to share abou...
