Re: aperiodic monotiles
What counts as a heterochiral tiling when we have two tile shapes? In Douglas's first article above, we chose not to go into this question, but Craig Kaplan has asked us to elaborate. Clearly there is no problem defining homochiral versus heterochiral when there is a single chiral tile shape. If th...

Re: aperiodic monotiles
Of course the heptagons and triangles were actually obtained from the hurtles, by starting from one end of the pair of colinear edges and skipping every other vertex. The non-convex 14-sided hurtle thereby becomes a convex 7-sided "lemon" and some space is left over in the form of 45° righ...

Re: aperiodic monotiles
I discovered that the following homochirally aperiodic tiling of "lemons and leaves", is derivable from the homochirally aperiodic hurtle tiling. The set consists of two convex polyhedra: a chiral irregular 7-gon and a 45° right triangle, with matching rules enforced by requiring continuit...

Parameterizations The scheme we use above, where we morph smoothly from the chevron to the comet, by deriving 𝑎 and 𝑏 as the sine and cosine of a single parameter θ, is not the only way to do this, although it's hard to imagine a simpler way. On the diagram below: https://forum.sagittal.org/downloa...

Re: Sensi temperament
I think we should only recommend your chain-of-fifths notation and your 8-MOS nominals notation with
,
,

. It's unlikely anyone would use more than 46 notes of sensi. You would only need

if you have more than 56 notes.

Re: Sensi temperament
A agree that those symbols are valid as those numbers of generators, except that the symbols you suggest for -24g and -32g are not themselves dropped-accent versions of valid symbols. But I think you were right to reject these additional notations, for the reasons you give. Also, I think improper MO...

Re: Sensi temperament
These are excellent notations for sensi . I too, failed to find a single symbol for -16 generators, so it will just have to be :/|)::/|): . רועיסיני , I'm sorry it took me so long to check your notations and reply to this post, but I upgraded the forum software recently, and four days ago I noticed ...

Re: New left, right and center-aligned table bbCodes. New escape bbCode.
I finally got it to work the same as it used to before the upgrade, by using the following patterns, replacements and help-lines: [table borderwidth={NUMBER;defaultValue=0}]{TEXT}[/table] <script>window.tableBbcodeBorderWidth = "{@borderwidth}px";</script> <div style="overflow-x: auto...

Re: New left, right and center-aligned table bbCodes. New escape bbCode.
Upgrading the forum software from phpBB 3.3.2 to 3.3.10 broke the above table-related BbCodes. As you can see above, we were making the data-cells take on borders of the same width as the table border by using <style> elements in the body of the page, which was always going against the HTML spec and...
