Re: "Sagispeak"

I rather like the idea of using shift to flip keyboard shortcuts from lower alterations to upper alterations, just as the shift key usually flips us from lower to uppercase letters. Sagittal+p for :\!: and Sagittal+P for :/|: sounds very intuitive, and I would imagine one could become quite quickly ...

Re: 45 odd-limit 13-prime limit diamonds in Athenian and beyond

I thought about that, but it dawned on me that Athenian level notation already uses some other "approximations", possibly of a similar order of comma size. I had the schismatic spellings in brackets initially, but decided I'd include them as other approximations are surely already filling ...

Re: Prime-factor Sagittal JI notation (one symbol per prime)

Here are respectively a Prime-Factor-Sagittal 13-prime and 37-prime 45-limit diamond for anyone interested in what this stuff looks like. One might get scared by the number of symbols behind each note, but one can see at a glance what the relations are to other pitches on the staff, within the chord...

Re: 45 odd-limit 13-prime limit diamonds in Athenian and beyond

Here is another version. The same 13-prime, 45-odd limit diamond is represented in Herculean, adding some non-athenian flags, as well as the schisma accidentals to distinguish some interval pairs ~2c apart. I have also made a 37-prime 45-odd limit diamond in both Olympian and Multi-Sagittal, but wil...

Re: 39-odd limit diamond in Olympian

Thanks. Yes, I already edited my above upload twice when I found little mistakes, but I think I've still found a couple more. Will upload my most recent version shortly, along with my Athenian diamond and what I'm currently working on, a multi-Sagittal version, which actually looks like a whole hand...

45 odd-limit 13-prime limit diamonds in Athenian and beyond

As per Dave and others' suggestions, I've made a few revised diamonds, only involving the primes up to 13, but extending the odd limit to also include ratios of 45, which can be pretty important. This one's Athenian-level precision, so small intervals like the 13-schismina ("mina") and 5-s...

Re: 39-odd limit diamond in Olympian

Hi again folks. I've started making a few other diamonds as per Dave's suggestions, and by doing so I found 4 errors in the notations of 7/5 and 7/15, where in G :.::|)::#: and C :.::|)::#: the 7-commas should have been downward instead of upward, i.e. G:.::!)::#: and C:.::!)::#:, and in ratios 35/5...

Re: Prime-factor Sagittal JI notation (one symbol per prime)

Nice!!! This is great!!! Cool that the single-symbol stuff has been worked out too, I probably wouldn't use it myself very much but I'm sure it will be quite helpful for some, and it has a much shorter learning curve. Awesome work! So from a 1/1 of D, would this be correct?: 1 D 3 A 5 F:\!::#: 7 C:!...

Re: 39-odd limit diamond in Olympian

Nice work, Cam! Thank you!! this may not be the correct forum to pursue this question (Education, perhaps?) ... but I'd like to see: a) A lesson or tutorial on using the "beginner" set of just 4 Spartan symbols, covering: - which 4 symbols, - the ratios involved, - a small sample piece, b...

Re: 39-odd limit diamond in Olympian

It's going to take me a little while to digest all your comments. Thank you for such detailed replies. What I meant by Sagittal notation "tempering out" certain commas is in the extended diamond, I was seeing a lot of "approximations" (using schismas and schisminas) rather than e...
