Re: consistent Sagittal 37-Limit?
Fair enough. What about checking whether the current parameter values for the LPEI badness (9.65; 1.7; 9.65; 0.8) give the maximum number of matches to the existing comma assignments when we include single-shafts past the half-apotome? I'm fairly sure there would be a better one that weights the AT...

Re: consistent Sagittal 73-Limit
I'm not exactly feeling like making a full analysis of the existing commas there (there's well over 500 commas on the list, and some of those have an N2D3P9 above 300, which suggests that commas up to the 73-limit might be worth considering), at least for now. One interesting thing that happens with...

Re: consistent Sagittal 37-Limit
The capture zones are currently 1/233 of an apotome, so that the zone boundaries are mirrored about the half-apotome. Or putting it another way: so that the zone boundaries for an apotome-complement are the apotome-complements of the zone boundaries of the original symbol. That's equivalent to 1\24...

Re: consistent Sagittal 37-Limit
So after drifting away from this forum for reasons I don't remember after my last post here, I came back (also for reasons I don't remember even though it was literally a few days ago...) and decided to polish up a few of my old posts, because I couldn't find a place to contribute that was remotely ...

Re: Naming commas and other intervals: a compilation of various sources
@volleo6144, when you found that counterexample, did you mean to imply that it was the simplest possible counterexample? Or is it still an open question whether there are many much simpler counterexamples? I certainly didn't mean it as the simplest possible (there's certainly another prime combinat...

Re: "Sagispeak"
I'm not aware of any evidence that /kw/ is a difficult consonant combination for the average human. Though I agree that if it collapsed to /k/ we'd have a problem. And we'd also have a problem if some speakers collapsed it to /w/ since that's the language-permitting alternative to /dʒɐt/ ("jat...

Re: A proposal to simplify the notation of EDOs with bad fifths
I like "phidiant"! It's especially nice if you pronounce φ as /fiː/ (same as "fee"), which I don't, but have nothing against it. I think I'd like to borrow that word for my writings on metallic MOS scales, if you don't mind. As it stands, the last paragraph of this section is an...

Re: JI precision level capture zone boundary defining EDA step names (besides tina)
Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but it sounds like you're looking at different EDAs to use directly as scales or tunings. Did I get that right? If so, it's certainly different than how Sagittal is using them in this context, but probably more related than I can easily imagine. This is pretty heady stuf...

Re: developing a notational comma popularity metric
His formula goes like this: $$ E(n) = 1 + \sum_{k=1}^{r} a_k(p_k - 1) $$ Note that it would probably be ideal to get rid of that \(1 +\); it was only really put there so that 1/1 wouldn't be zeroth-grade, and plainly 0 is an acceptable output now that it's just another number. Grade "A" i...
