Re: general methods for linear temperament notation
Also, I suspect @Dave Keenan may eventually ask me to write a program which allows a regular (or is linear the preferred term?) temperament notation to be generated from some inputs, as a feature of a web-based Sagittal notation calculator... Actually. It should be a simple extension to your existi...

Re: myna temperament notation
Good work there, Herman! I'm sorry I can't spare the time to investigate enough to suggest any alternatives.
It certainly underscores the point that linear temperament notations are still more art than science.

Re: Quadritikleismic (68&72 13-limit)
I now wonder which accidentals would be best for using in [Quadritikleismic], besides :/|\: and :(!/: ? It should preferrably be a good compromise between 72edo and 68edo, and possibly 140edo. With 4 periods to the octave and 6 generators to the fifth, notation of Quadritikleismic, based on diatoni...

Hi Henrik. Welcome to the Sagittal forum. I include this link to your related facebook thread in case some readers here haven't seen it. My understanding of your facebook post is that you weren't particularly asking about a notation for it, but just wanted to know if anyone had any information about...

Re: miracle temperament
As for the extra symbols beyond the 72-EDO notation, I like being able to name a pitch by reference to the nearest nominal ... Right. That's fair enough. It's similar to the way that we could notate 31edo using only sharps and flats and their doubles, but that would required that we accept "cr...

Re: miracle temperament
Hey... shouldn't Sagittal offer a miracle temperament notation, since George himself invented it? It does. It's the 72edo notation. In the last paragraph on page 18 of the XH article you will find: While the notation of linear or higher-dimensional temperaments has not been investigated by us in gr...

Re: miracle temperament
Thanks for that, Herman. Am I right in assuming that the vertical dimension on these charts corresponds to generator count? It's clear that horizontal is pitch. We seem to have different approaches to creating notations for linear temperaments that are based on 7 nominals in a chain of fifths. Can y...

Re: proportional/spatial + symbolic notation
For the Revo flavor, your proposal to interpret extra shafts as 3C instead of apotomes is really interesting. I note, however, that in the standard staff, a single extra shaft doesn't represent an apotome ; it actually represents a :(|): , or 11L . When you have two extra shafts, then you could say...

Re: Mavila notation
Thanks for the chart. I took the liberty of making it display as an image in your post. The trick to doing that is to right click on the link in the Attachments tab and choose "Copy link location", then paste that into your post and surround it with [_]img]...[/img]. I found the following ...
