Chord Names in Sagittal
So I'm running into several qualms with sagittal chord names. Assuming we already know what to call accidentals, we have Pai, Pao, Pai-flat, pao-sharp. Here's my proposed system based on Cam's system with a few modifications for special chords. This post is mainly for 22 TET but applies to everythin...

Re: Key Signatures and MOS Notation
One could consider the preferred spellings for all 10 tetrads in the scale and see if perhaps pai-flats might occur more often than pao-sharps for some of the notes in the right-hand chain. But once that's decided, I agree with Cryptic Ruse that you don't change the spelling of a note within the sa...

Re: Key Signatures and MOS Notation
How about Pajara and the decatonics? These I find hard to notate consistently even though I know Cam mentioned an easy way to do it logically but I cannot seem to remember. Should 7/6 be notated as a large tone in that temperament? Paul did something like C E G A:/|: for the tonic 4:5:6:7 I think. ...

Re: Key Signatures and MOS Notation
Ok, I changed the title to include MOS notation since that is also a big issue here even if not a key signature pursue. How about Pajara and the decatonics? These I find hard to notate consistently even though I know Cam mentioned an easy way to do it logically but I cannot seem to remember. Should ...

Re: 22 EDO
Sorry William. I think I just found the source of the idea that :/|: corresponded the 1/2-apotome in 22-edo. Me! I mistakenly wrote it, about half way through this recent post in another thread. I've corrected it now. http://forum.sagittal.org/viewtopic.php?p=415#p415 Ah ok lol. So should we use th...

Re: Key Signature Approaches?
Dave I think that's probably a good idea because its easier to understand the score that way. Can someone explain porcupine keys signatures though? I cannot seem to understand how they change based on going down quills (the generator).

Key Signatures and MOS Notation
I have debated for a while on how to use sagittal for key signatures. It makes a score much cleaner looking to put all the needed signs in the key for a set of 7 pitches but it also MIGHT make it more difficult to read the score for some. I personally do not know what is best yet as I have only just...

22 EDO
Haven't been here in a while. This is my preferred notation for 22 EDO based on Cam's original proposal, it may be identical. I dunno ACCIDENTALS Accidentals come in the apotome and 1/2 apotome. :#: and :b: have a value of 3 Sharp/Flat :/|: and :\!: have a value of 1 Pai/Pao Symbols are combined to ...

Re: 17 EDO?
Ok thanksDave Keenan wrote:That is correct. And the same notation is used for 24, 31 and 38 edos, so of course you need to indicate on the score, which of them you intend.
