Re: How should naturals be used with Sagittal?

I agree with George, and with Dave's latest comment. Adhering closely with the most popular accidental practice makes a lot of sense, where (reasonably short) bars and some tonal relationships are maintained, having accidentals (or accidental groups) in effect for a whole bar seems logical. I have y...

Re: 581EDO

Thanks for all this George, for taking the time to look into this so deeply. I wouldn't have thought it would be quite this tricky, since 581 is not too far from 23- and 25-limit JI, and with 270 looking not too radical, I thought 581 would be only a bit of gap-filling from there. Obviously, I was w...

Re: George's "Coming on Clouds" piece

Thanks for looking into this. But as I accessed the sagittal page again, it still won't play. Perhaps this is just an issue at my end (insufficient plugins etc). I get the media bar there and can hit the play/pause button, but get no time indication besides 0:00, and no sound. The other sound exampl...

Re: 581EDO

I'd like to emphasise the 23-prime limit, so not that keen to use higher primes unless it makes things a whole lot easier. Thanks.

George's "Coming on Clouds" piece

Anyone know why George's audio no longer plays on the main Sagittal notation page? I really like it, and would love to be able to listen to it again. Couldn't find it anywhere else.

581EDO

I realise 581 is tricky, mostly because it looks really close to JI, but it's fifths are ever so slightly sharp as to make a very nearly pure 7:8 after 14 fifths, and virtually just 8:11 at 23 fifths, making it very practical to work with. Another reason 581 is tricky is because the schisma maps to ...

Re: Notating 37EDO

These 205 and 270 edo notations are very useful! I've been looking into 205 (in relation to H-Pi, and to 41edo), 270, 311 and 270+311=581 as master tunings for JI and regular/irregular temperaments alike. Now I know your recommended 270 notation I can probably work out how most of 581 works, but may...

Notating 37EDO

I am trying to make a 37edo template on Mus2 for Joe Monzo, but I didn't find any obvious solution to notating 37, except as a subset of 74edo's meantone (which I don't think he's interested in). If notating with the native fifth, we have m2 = 1\37, A1 = 6\37, M2 = 7\37, etc. The most obvious option...

Johnston vs Sagittal: Notating the Johnston Quartets

Hi all. A while ago I did a handwritten version of Johnston's 10th Quartet 3rd movement, to compare with Johnston's own JI notation. I have since made a version in Mus2 using mixed Sagittal accidentals that plays back pitch correctly. I will probably also make a Pure Sagittal version for those inter...
